Mr. Coleman Spears is in his first year at Andress High School, and serves as the Director of Bands. He comes to Andress HS after completing his graduate degree in Conducting at The University of Texas at El Paso. At UTEP, he served as a graduate assistant and conducted the concert ensembles, assisted with the Marching Miners and basketball bands, and served as the band-area coordinator for on-campus festivals and recruitment events. Prior to his graduate studies, he served as a band director at Pecos High School (Pecos, TX). In this role, he led the Symphonic Band, the Pecos Swingin’ Eagles Jazz Band, assisted with the Pecos Eagle Marching Band, and taught beginning high-brass courses at Crockett Middle School. Coleman received his undergraduate degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University (Nacogdoches, TX) and Abilene Christian University (Abilene, TX) in music education and computer science respectively.
Coleman has presented at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference and the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic. He is a member of TMEA, Texas Bandmasters Association, the Association of Texas Small School Bands, and Tau Beta Sigma National Band Sorority. He is passionate about music education and technology, and empowering the next generation of students to utilize both in becoming better local, national, and global citizens.
