Particpation in a Texas All-State Ensemble is one of the highest auditioned honors a high-school musician can achieve in the United States. Very few students earn this honor (in fact, only 52 students each year from all of West Texas and the Panhandle make an All-State Band!) Making an All-State Band takes months of dedication to perfecting musical fundamentals through scales and etudes, culminating in a region, area, and state audition process in December, January, and February respectively.
This webpage hosts several materials designed to guide students into properly preparing for the audition process, including practice strategies and high-quality musical examples of etudes. The Preparation and Guidelines section should be followed extensively, specifically by setting a schedule for practicing and approaching every practice session with a professional mindset to maximize time.
Sheet music cannot be hosted on this website due to publishing concerns. For music, please see Mr. Spears.
